Music Time
Each month, students will learn new songs. Preschool-aged children thrive on participatory and expressive learning. One of my goals this year is to implement more music in our daily routine because we know that musical activities stimulate development in every area of the brain. Music nurtures imagination, creativity, and pretend play. Music develops emerging literacy skills, social development, movement skills, and expressive use of the body. Students will be introduced to a few beginning musical concepts and skills while using a variety of musical instruments. Some of the instruments we will use are drums, scarves, ribbons, bells, maracas, rhythm sticks, and wood blocks. The instruments and props are developmentally appropriate and safe. We rotate them throughout the month so that they stay new and interesting to the students.
Monthly songs will be posted on this site so that you and your child may listen to them together. Some of the songs come from the Sunrise Preschool Curriculum: World of Wonders, while others I’ve obtained from a variety of sources such as Super Simple Songs- I hope you enjoy them.
