Sunrise Preschool

Hello Sunrise Preschool Families!

Here are a couple of reminders and items for you to be aware of:

Dress for the Weather:

As the days start cooling off, please remember to dress your child appropriately for the weather. Our classes go out to recess most days, so consider sending a jacket / coat, hat, or gloves with your child on colder days. Our pick-up and drop-off procedure will remain the same on rainy and snowy days.

Home Strategies:

Parent and family support in a child’s education can make all the difference!

This week’s topic is focused on SLEEP.

  • How can supporting sleep at home help my child at school?

Sleep helps with memory, attention, and cognition. In addition, sleep can affect mood and behavior. According to the National Sleep Foundation, children ages 3-5 need 11-13 hours of sleep each night.

  • What can I do to support my child’s sleep?
    • Create a bedtime routine: Children thrive when they know what to expect and can get mentally and physically prepared. This routine could include a bath, pajamas, brushing teeth, and a story. Whatever the routine, staying consistent will help make it more effective.  Click here for an example of a Bedtime Routine
    • Stick to a schedule: Having a consistent daily routine, including bedtime, wake time, meals, and play time will help your child get into a good rhythm and feel comfortable.
    • Encourage physical activity: Exercise can help both the quality and duration of sleep. In addition, exposure to sunlight throughout the day helps your body produce melatonin when it’s time to sleep. Make time in your day to move outdoors, such as going on a walk or playing at a park.

Student Absences:

If your child is going to be absent, please call the front office at 801-374-4915 to excuse the absence. Your child’s education is important to us, so we ask that you make your student’s attendance a priority when possible. There are times, such as with illness, that it is appropriate to keep your child at home. The sick policy from the Utah County Health Department is posted on our website for your reference.
