Help Your Child Become A Confident Reader
Positive early literacy experiences set children on a pathway to become confident readers by the time they reach third grade, which is an important milestone on the pathway toward high school graduation. Research shows that when families start early by adopting the following children develop strong language and literacy competencies:
- Have ongoing and engaging conversations with their child
- Create literacy-friendly environments
- Make reading enjoyable
- High expectations for their child’s learning
- Communicate with their child’s teacher
- Use home languages
- Visit the library
