Hello Sunrise Preschool Families!

Here are a couple of reminders and items for you to be aware of:

Our Sunrise Preschool student t-shirts are available to purchase in the front office. They are $7 per shirt (cash only), available in sizes Youth X-Small, Small, and Medium.

Home Strategies:

Parent and family support in a child’s education can make all the difference! While the classroom environment is important to learn school readiness skills, there are many things that can be done at home to strengthen a child’s learning. Each week, we will highlight strategies and activities that can be done at home to reinforce your child’s learning and growth.

Reading at home boosts academic success!

This week’s focus is on making books a priority. Here are some ideas to make that happen:

– Make a goal to read at least one book with your child every day.

-If you normally read one book at bedtime, try adding an additional reading session at another point in the day.

-Keep books out where your child can get them.

-Consider refreshing your book options by checking out new books from the library, or re-read your child’s favorite books to help with comprehension.

-When you have some downtime, you can set a good example of reading by reaching for a book yourself.

Benefits of reading with your child:

Provides bonding time Boosts vocabulary and language development Improves cognitive skills Increases ability to focus and remember Supports listening skills Sparks imagination and stimulates curiosity Promotes social/emotional skills Helps your child learn about the world around them

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.“ – Dr Seuss, I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!

Student Absences:

If your child is going to be absent, please call the front office at 801-374-4915 to excuse the absence. Your child’s education is important to us, so we ask that you make your student’s attendance a priority when possible. There are times, such as with illness, that it is appropriate to keep your child at home. The sick policy from the Utah County Health Department is posted on our website for your reference.
