Give your child the chance to utilize and figure out how to use glue sticks! When they are using them-model how to use them appropriately. Give them a glue stick and don’t do anything and see what happens. Will they be able to take off the lid? Do they know that if you twist the bottom that you can get more glue? Do they know that it only goes on paper? When they are done do they know that you put the lid back on? These skills are best learned by exposure and sometimes by slowing down and showing them how to use it appropriately.
